The Rila Mountain
The Rila mountain, situated in the western parts of Bulgaria, will fascinate you with its magnificence and beauty. The lakes are surrounded by steep rocks and fragrant green meadows. The incredible beauty and the easy accessibility of the place attract thousands of tourists from all over the world. The impressive architectural complex of the Rila Monastery is nestling in the northwestern foothills of the Rila mountain. It is the biggest monastery in Bulgaria and a significant cultural monument. Parts of it were ravaged and rebuilt many times since its foundation in the 10th c. The Rila monastery boasts an incredibly rich and well-preserved decoration with murals and wood-carvings by self-taught masters. There is convenient transport from the town of Samokov and the village of Govedartsi to the Malyovitsa Complex. The resort is a starting point of many tourist routes in the Rila mountain – to the Strashnoto Lake, to the Seven Rila Lakes, to the Ribni Lakes Chalet, to the Rila Monastery. Panichishte is a small ski resort in the Rila mountain offering several well-maintained ski-runs and comfortable accommodation in the numerous chalets and hotels. There are also good conditions for cross-country skiing and sledding. Some of the ski runs start from the Seven Rila Lakes chalet. Nestling on the eastern slopes of the Rila mountain, the small resort town of Semkovo offers perfect conditions for winter sports and summer mountain hiking. The number of foreigners who visit Bulgaria in order to take advantage of qualitative dental services has increased, reported Bulgarian Union of Dentists. Bulgarian newspaper Dnevnik daily has revealed that the only place where only dental services are offered is a complex with a hospital in the popular SPA resort St.Constantine and Elena. The company that owns the hospital has reported a recent growth of 22% compared to the same period last year. Official data include private visitors and organized groups who visit Bulgaria in order to benefit from dental services. The majority of patients in the hospital is from Germany-72%. The number of clients from Switzerland and Austria is 8% , and from UK 3%. A patient usually spends nearly 3200 EUR on their procedures; however, this sum is not a large one, because tourists tend to visit Bulgaria’s hospital in St.Constantine and Elena resort primarily for expensive and important dental services.
Many Greeks also visit Bulgaria in order to benefit from cheaper dental services. Patients from Greece usually choose dentists and hospitals Zlatograd, Petrich and Sandanski due to the close distance between these cities and the Greek border.
