15.10.2012
A meeting for the presentation of a cultural and historic travel route was held to support Sofia’s application for being an European cultural capital in 2019. Sofia group of monasteries, 14 shrines, dating back to 14th century, proved that Bulgarian capital city was an important cultural centre in the Middle Ages.
27 paths were marked in the monasteries in the northern part of Sofia Sveta Mala Gora. They will encourage the development of cultural tourism and eco tourism. Most of the monasteries are located in picturesque, beautiful mountainous regions in Sofia to combine cultural, pilgrimage and eco tourism in one single product.
